About Us.

The South Fork of the Snake River in southeastern Idaho flows for 66 miles through extensive cottonwood riparian forests, high mountain valleys, steep canyons and acres of fertile farmland. It flows northwest from the Palisades Dam in the Swan Valley to its confluence with the Henry's Fork of the Snake River. The South Fork is one of the most successfully diverse fisheries in the world, supporting healthy populations of Snake River Fine-Spotted Cutthroat trout/Yellowstone Large-Spotted Cutthroat, rainbow trout, brown trout, hybridized cutthroat and rainbow trout, white fish, and native suckers.

Ed Emory

Founder, Guide, and Fish Enthusiast

Ed’s passion for the South Fork developed over decades as one of the longest tenured fishing guides in Idaho.

His studies in freshwater biology at the University of Colorado helped Ed to define and understand the complexity and demands facing the South Fork of the Snake.

The South Fork Legacy grew from his passion to leave the South Fork a better place for generations of river users while meeting the complex demands of the non angling public.
